Honors at the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference
Eight honors students and staff traveled to Denver, Colorado
Eight honors students and staff travelled to Denver, Colorado from November 5-9, 2014 to attend the Annual Conference of the National Collegiate Honors Council. The conference allows honors students and staff from throughout the nation (and, increasingly, Europe and the Middle East) to network, exchange ideas, and share their latest research findings. Chris Corley and Ginny Walters organized panels and made presentations on developing intercultural competency in honors programs. Corley’s panel was entitled “Beyond a Semester Abroad: Developing Intercultural Competency through Curricular Redesign.” Walters’ panel was entitled “Enhancing Intercultural Competency through Courses.” Lauren Bach (’14, Psychology), served on many panels and organizing committees through her role as a member of the NCHC Board of Directors. She also gave a presentation in a panel entitled “Challenged and Inspired to Create Student-Led Orientations.” Incoming Honors Director Dr. Anne Dahlman attended sessions intended for new honors directors.
The Honors Program at Minnesota State University, Mankato will serve as host to the Annual Conference of the Upper-Midwest Regional Honors Council (which includes colleges and universities from North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan) on March 26-28, 2015. More information about the conference may be found at UMRC Conference .
