Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Education Receives $1 Million Gift Commitment
Mankato, Minn. – The College of Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato has received a gift commitment of $1 million from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
College of Education Dean Jean Haar said the gift commitment is in honor of the donor’s father and wife, both of whom graduated from Minnesota State Mankato and were lifelong teachers.
The gift has been set up to be distributed to the College of Education over the next five years in approximate increments of $200,000 each year. A portion of each year’s gift will be designated for scholarships and programming within the College.
“We are excited to receive such a significant gift,” said Haar. “It will do much to support the transformational work the college is doing to ensure we are preparing graduates who embrace a diverse and changing society and who are successful in impacting K-12 student learning.”
Minnesota State Mankato President Richard Davenport and Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells said they were very grateful for the gift to the College of Education.
“This is truly a remarkable gift,” said Davenport. “We’re very appreciative of what this gift will mean not only for our students, but also for the K-12 students who will someday learn from graduates of the College of Education at Minnesota State Mankato.”
Said Wells: “This gift also will enable our College of Education to expand and deepen our partnerships and to seize opportunities for discovery, innovation, and application of the best programs and practices in education.”
