Bisola Asaolu and the Nature of Diversity at Commencement

Bisola Asaolu, the commencement speaker at the December 2014, gave a wonderful speech on the nature of diversity.

At the fall 2014 commencement ceremony here at Minnesota State University, we had the wonderful opportunity to hear from commencement speaker, Bisola Asaolu. Bisola (pictured below) graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology with an emphasis in biomedical sciences, at only 20 years old. Bisola grew up in Nigeria and came to the United States only 4 years ago. She delivered an inspiring address in which she shared with us her thoughts about diversity in the US and at Minnesota State University, Mankato. “We have graduated, and are moving forward, some to more education, some to other paths. What will diversity look like now? It’s still the same- it is appreciating difference and making a difference. Outside of our campus, diversity will become: standing out in the crowd, doing something different or maybe even spectacular.”

Congratulations Bisola and all Fall 2014 graduates!
