Undergraduate Research Center has awarded a $500.00 grant to College of Education sophomore Amanda Roche.
The Undergraduate Research Center has awarded a $500.00 grant to College of Education sophomore Amanda Roche. The grant will support her team’s research project: Baseline Cultural Competency among Undergraduate Students at MSU, Mankato. The project is examining the cultural competency of more than 400 MSU students as they entered a Human Relations course (2010 – 2015). Outcomes of the study may be useful for program assessment by the College of Education. Furthermore, MSU decision-makers may be interested in the results as they consider how to achieve MSU's cultural competency goals.
Amanda’s faculty mentor is Dr. Elizabeth Sandell, Associate Professor in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood. The undergraduate student research team also includes Olufolajimi Onadipe, fourth-year student in Biomedical Sciences, and Oguljan Jumakuliyeva, third-year student in Civil Engineering.
Amanda is specializing in Mathematics and expects to graduate in 2017. She works part-time in the Alumni Foundation Center for University Advancement and, last year, she raised more than $10,000 on behalf of MSU, Mankato.
