Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency

Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency (CULP) is an opportunity for ROTC cadets to travel the globe and experience other cultures and languages. CULP exposes cadets to the realities that other countries have vastly different lifestyles, economic standing and world perspectives. During the cadet’s CULP experience they are typically partnered with the host nation military to participate in training exercises and/or public service projects such as teaching English to local children or building homes for low income families, etc. CULP gives cadets a chance to gain experience working with foreign militaries and host nation nationals, thus better preparing the cadets for service as an officer in the United States Army.
This year we have four cadets from Minnesota State University Mankato Army ROTC Program selected for a CULP Deployment to Croatia:
Cadet Seth Blomgren
Cadet Matthew Olson
One Cadet from Bethany Lutheran (Turkey) and another from Gustavus Adolphus College (Czech Republic) were also selected for a CULP Mission.
