Feb. 19: National Anthropology Day Open House
First-ever National Anthropology Day to be celebrated on campus.

Mankato, Minn. – The Department of Anthropology at Minnesota State University, Mankato will celebrate the American Anthropological Association’s first-ever National Anthropology Day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 by providing cake and treats at an open-house style event in 359 Trafton Science Center North.
The event is open to the general public and is intended to provide information to anyone interested in learning more about the discipline of anthropology.
Guests may register to win prizes that include National Anthropology Day t-shirts, books on anthropology, some electronic prizes and more.
According to a press release on the American Anthropological Association’s website, National Anthropology Day is a day for anthropologists to celebrate and participate in their discipline with the public around them. The AAA website lists Minnesota State Mankato as one of more than 65 colleges and universities from around the United States that are planning to celebrate the day.
Current Minnesota State Mankato senior student Joshua Anderson helped plan the national event during a six-week summer 2014 internship with the American Anthropological Association in Washington, D.C. Anderson received one of two AAA student internships that was offered nationally last summer.
