Community Engagement - Sibley Park and River Cleanup
Sibley Park and River Cleanup to take place September 12
The Community Engagement Office is joining forces with the American Fisheries Society Minnesota State Mankato Student Subunit to host a Sibley Park and River Cleanup, Saturday, September 12, from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Students interested in volunteering should sign up on the CEO page of OrgSync.
Karen Anderson, Interim Assistant Director of Community Engagement, said, "We are excited to partner with the American Fisheries Society Minnesota State Mankato Student Subunit on this venture. They have a long history of community service, especially water testing and river cleanups. We hope that many students with an interest in the environment will sign up and help with the project."
Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water, sunscreen, a hat, wear sturdy close toed shoes, long pants, and clothing they don't mind to get dirty. The service project will be followed by a screening and discussion of the movie "Tapped" on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:30 pm in Ostrander Auditorium of the Centennial Student Union. This reflection event is part of the Social Justice Film Series. All students are welcome, but the student volunteering on Saturday are encouraged to participate.
