Help Sought at the Campus Kitchen During Holiday Season
MSU, Mankato students may be home on break, but Campus Kitchen is still operating and is looking for volunteers
MSU, Mankato students may be going home on break, but Campus Kitchen is still operating and is looking for volunteers. The Campus Kitchen at Minnesota State University, Mankato gathers unserved food from local restaurants, repackages it and delivers it to people facing food insecurity in the Mankato area. Civic groups, teams, or a group of friends and family are welcome to seek out a shift to cover over the break between semesters.
Volunteer shift openings are:
Monday, December 14, from 5-7 pm (6 people)
Wednesday, December 16, from 11 am - 1 pm (4 people)
Wednesday, January 6 from 11 am -1 pm (4 people)
Only 3 shifts are still available and are filling up fast. To request a shift for your group, send an e-mail to Karen Anderson, email@example.com. Include the name of your group, the name of the primary contact, ant the shift you would like your group to cover. If you agree to a shift, you agree to have enough people to cover the shift as listed above. Once service is confirmed, Karen will send the group leader volunteer applications and waivers. Youth groups, ages 12-17 may help if there is one adult advisor for every 4 youth participating with your group. Parental/Guardian forms will be included in the applications, and must be submitted before the shift to participate.
This is a great way to hold a 'one time' service activity and discuss hunger and food insecurity in our community. All shifts will take place at the Campus Kitchen, located in the basement of Crossroads Lutheran Campus Center, 331 Dillon Avenue. For more information, contact Karen Anderson, 507-398-6076.
