School Psychology Program Accredited by NASP!

School Psychology Doctoral Program Gains National Accreditation

The psychology department is honored to announce that the School Psychology doctoral program has earned NASP accreditation!

NASP accreditation is recognition that the program meets rigorous standards of training across 10 different dimensions, including data-based decision making, intervention and mental health services to help clients develop social and and life skills, preventative and responsive services, program evaluation, and ethical, legal and professional standards of the field.

Prior to accreditation, students were able to pursue licensure and certification through a portfolio process. The accreditation will now allow recent and future students a more direct pathway to national certification and state licensure for school psychology.

This accreditation would not have happened without the diligent work of our School Psychology program members: Chip Panahon, Kevin Filter, and Shawna Petersen-Brown. We are grateful for their contributions, and we look forward to continuing to build and strengthen the excellent practitioners the program develops.
