Dietetics student, Hannah Thompson, competed in The Big Ideas Challenge 2016 hosted by the College of Business.

The Big Ideas Challenge is a new venture competition for students. The mission is to provide a platform to support, celebrate and promote the newest and most innovative business ideas from students. The competition is open to individuals or teams of current Minnesota State University, Mankato students or recent alumni from any discipline.

Students compete for up to $12,500 in prize money generously donated by alumnus Craig Lloyd of Lloyd Companies and College Works Painting.

Thompson’s business idea is to offer personal chef service in the Mankato area, called HomeFresh. Services would include grocery shopping; preparations of a week’s worth of meals prepared in the clients’ home and clean up. According to Thompson, “HomeFresh prioritizes client health by utilizing ingredients that are nutrient-dense, wholesome, plant-based and minimally processed. Meals are customized to client preferences and are of restaurant quality and taste.”

She says that her business solves the nightly question: “What’s for dinner?” in a stress-free, healthy way that tastes amazing. “HomeFresh adds valuable time to the client’s life by eliminating grocery shopping, menu planning, and meal preparation. HomeFresh makes it easy for people to create the healthy lifestyle they want.”

Congratulations on your big idea, Hannah!
