Mikyla Denney will represent state of Minnesota
Honors student Mikyla Denney (Anthropology & Spanish, ‘17) has been selected to represent the state of Minnesota at the Henry Clay Center for Statemanship’s College Student Congress, which will take place this summer. Mikyla was recommended to apply for this opportunity by Ginny Walters, Assistant Director of the Honors Program and University Fellowship Coordinator.
The Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship aims to impart skills of leadership to bring about change in the world. Gathering exceptional students from every region to engage in Student Congresses, the next generation of leaders and public servants develop their abilities of negotiation, goodwill, and compromise. Through this program, students are given the opportunity to work with lawmakers, academics, journalists, and business leaders to discuss the importance of compromise in every aspect of their activities. Participating in the Student Congress sets a platform for students to pursue positions of leadership and service in their futures.
