Common Read Keynote Event: An Evening with Julie Otsuka Wednesday, October 19, 2016, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Centennial Student Union Ballroom, Minnesota State University, Mankato

Julie Otsuka

Minnesota State University, Mankato welcomes author, Julie  Otsuka, to campus to discuss her award winning book, When the Emperor was Divine. This book tells the story of a Japanese American family's separation and forced incarceration at a Utah enemy alien internment camp during World War II. Julie Otsuka will answer audience questions following her presentation. The free event, hosted by the University's Common Read in partnership with Good Thunder Reading Series, is open to the public.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. As part of the Good Thunder Reading Series on October 20, Julie Otsuka will again be speaking on campus about her most recent book, The Buddha in the Attic.
