Honors Student Volunteers

Honors Student Volunteers are needed to play staffer roles for a poverty simulation on Friday, Dec 2nd.

My name is Kelly Krumwiede and I teach in the school of nursing. I am looking for more volunteers to play a staffer role with the poverty simulation scheduled for Friday, December 2nd, in the Centennial Student Union ballroom. Nursing and social work students will be playing the family roles. The goal of the simulation is to sensitize these students to the day to day realities of life faced by people with low-incomes.

Kelly Krumwiede is looking for volunteers to play a staffer role (such as banker, realtor, homeless shelter staff, day care staff) over a simulated time frame of one month. Each week is 15 minutes in length. Below is the time frame for the simulation:

December 2nd

Between  11:30-12 p.m. Volunteer staffers for staffer pre-brief and time to learn assigned staffer role

12 p.m. Nursing and social work students to arrive

12-12:15 Pre-brief as a large group and develop a family plan

12:15-12:30 Week 1 Simulation

12:30-12:35 Families return to home

12:35-12:50 Week 2 Simulation

12:50-12:55 Families return to home

12:55-1:10 Week 3 Simulation

1:10-1:15 Families return to home

1:15-1:30 Week 4 Simulation

1:30-1:40 Families return to home and answer group debriefing questions

1:40-2:00 De-brief as a large group

Please let me know if you are (or if you know of someone who is) willing to volunteer for this simulation. I will send you more information regarding your role prior to the simulation. (507) 380-8628 (cell)
