Good Thunder is hosting poet and creative nonfiction writer Nick Flynn on Thursday, April 6.

 

Flynn will hold a workshop from 10-11 a.m. at the Emy Frentz Gallery (523 S. Second St.), and a craft talk from 3-3:50 p.m. in Ostrander Auditorium. That evening he'll read from his work from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in CSU, Room 245. Afterward, an informal gathering will take place at New Bohemia (12 Civic Center Plaza, Mankato.)

 

All Good Thunder Reading Series events are free and open to the public.

 

Flynn is the author of three memoirs, “The Reenactments,” “The Ticking is the Bomb: A Memoir of Bewilderment” and “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City,” which has been made into a film, “Being Flynn.” “Being Flynn” starred Robert DeNiro as Flynn’s father, and Julianne Moore and Paul Dano were in the cast. Flynn is also the author of four books of poems, “My Feelings,” “The Captain Asks For a Show of Hands,” “Some Ether,” which won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award, and “Blind Huber.” He has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Library of Congress, the Amy Lowell Trust and the Fine Arts Work Center. Flynn’s poems, essays and non-fiction have appeared in the The New Yorker, The Paris Review, National Public Radio’s “This American Life” and the New York Times Book Review.
