Aug. 14: University President's Convocation
President Richard Davenport will address faculty and staff from 9-10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14 in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport will welcome faculty back to campus and discuss his vision for the 2017-2018 academic year during the annual president’s convocation address from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14 in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom. A reception for faculty and staff will be held prior to the president’s address from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday in the CSU Ballroom lobby.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells will deliver the provost’s convocation address from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the CSU Ballroom.

Fall “move-in day” for students at each of Minnesota State Mankato’s residence communities is Thursday, Aug. 17, when more than 3,000 students will begin moving into on-campus housing at 9 a.m. A new student/family dinner will be held in the University Dining Center from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17. A complete schedule of 2017 student “Welcome Week” activities is available online. The first day of fall classes is Monday, Aug. 21.
More than 4,000 vehicles are expected on campus Aug. 17-18, as students, parents and friends move student belongings into four campus residence hall communities. The university will again provide faculty-staff volunteers to assist with logistics, as well as traffic-control officers to direct the flow of cars.
Drivers to campus are asked to temporarily avoid main access streets (Stadium Road and Val Imm Drive), and core-campus streets, and to park in remote lots on Thursday, Aug. 17.
There is no scheduled move-in day for thousands of additional returning students who live in private, off-campus apartments. Many will return to Mankato on the weekend (Aug. 18-20) prior to the start of classes.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,110 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
