The SpectrumU (free) Live TV app for students was updated recently to include video-on-demand television shows, movies as well as a new web browser version of SpectrumU.

SpectrumU has been available for live TV channel viewing for the past 18 months. This is a free service for students and available only while on the campus wireless network as well as networks within the resident halls including Stadium Heights. Many of the same cable TV channels in the resident halls are available on the SpectrumU app. The SpectrumU app is available for free on Apple IOS and Android phones and tables through iTunes and the Play store as well as the Kindle store.

There are hundreds of on-demand programs, television shows and movies available on the SpectrumU app as well as the ability to restart some live TV programs from the beginning in case you tune in late. All channels, programs and movies on SpectrumU are in beautiful high definition. So students who don’t have subscription to Netflix or other video services can have free access to all of the movies and programs as well as live TV through SpectrumU. This includes a wide range of sports programming – including the upcoming Vikings Superbowl victory – live while on campus.

Also available today is the ability to watch SpectrumU on a desktop or laptop computer by being on a campus or resident hall network and browsing to http://watch.spectrum.net.
NOTE: this website will require Flash and may not work on all browsers. It will not work on Edge, and seems to work best on Chrome.

This is a huge addition to the SpectrumU service which is offered free to the university as part of the cable TV service contract within the resident halls.
