Open to the Public. All are Welcome!

This February the Department of Anthropology at MSU, Mankato is celebrating Anthropology Day for the fourth year! "The anthropology Department looks forward to this every year,"" said department chair Dr. Kathleen Blue. "It demonstrates the commitment of MSU's anthropologists to support our community materially, in addition to the knowledge and understanding we share about humanity."

The main fesitivities will occur on Thursday, February 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. near 359 Trafton Science Center North and in the Centennial Student Union. Plans include a trivia contest, raffles for prizes, snacks (sweet and salty), a donation drive to benefit ECHO Food Shelf, a faculty-led department tour (11:00 a.m.), and a selfie contest.

Dr. Paul Brown, Emeritus FacultyThis year we are pleased to announce that our Anthropology Department founder, Emeritus, Dr. Paul Brown, will lecture on "Race and the Fallacy of white Supremacy" from 4:30 to 5:30 in the CSU 253/254, with a brief question and answer period afterward.

The donation drive to benefit ECHO Food Shelf will be held from February 12-16th in honor of Minnesota State University, Mankato's Sesquicentennial Anniversay Celebration. The anthropology Department is hoping to collect $150 in donations. Interested donors are encouraged to contact Dr. Rhonda Dass (see contact information) for donation pick-up if unable to make it to campus for the celebration.

According to Anthropology Graduate Student, Rachel Vang, "The great thing about the Master's program at Minnesota State University, Mankato is its relevance to issues today. As an applied program, we are provided with a holistic approach to understanding and working through issues that occur in our everyday lives."

Anthropology Day, celebrated on February 15th, 2018 is a day for anthropologists around the world to share their excitement about their discipline with the public around them.
