Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Jim Chalgren LGBT Center will celebrate its 40th anniversary Wednesday, April 11 with a 5 p.m. dinner and 5:30 p.m. program in Centennial Student Union, Room 253, on the University Campus.

Limited seating is available. Please RSVP to jessica.flatequal@mnsu.edu by Thursday, April 5 to reserve a seat.

The evening will be filled with alumni videos, a special musical performance and guest speakers reflecting on the history of the University’s LGBT Center.

The late Jim Chalgren founded Minnesota State Mankato’s LGBT Center in 1977 as a small haven for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students four decades ago, making it the second campus LGBT Center in the nation.

At the time of the Center’s dedication in 2008, Minnesota State Mankato had been listed among in the Advocate magazine’s top 100 LGBT-friendly universities.
