Check Out The KMSU Spring Pledge Drive Swag!
KMSU shirts, hats, and day sponsorships, PLUS amazing CDs from the World Cafe and the legendary Townes Van Zandt!
Gang, the Spring Pledge Drive starts on Wednesday, April 18th! This is one of two times during the year where we come to you and ask for your generous support to help keep KMSU on the air. We're hoping you'll take some time and make a donation to help us hit our $40,000 goal for the drive. $40,000 is nothing to sneeze at, but we're true believers in the station and its place in the community. With your generosity over the years we were able to finally get a new transmitter for the station, which is sending a strong signal across our broadcast area. THANK YOU! Your kindness means everything to us. With that huge improvement we're continuing to send a strong signal throughout our broadcast area, and that wouldn't be the case without your help. Now we need to continue building on that.
We've been able to keep building and growing KMSU over the years, and it's all thanks to you. The schedule is evolving, and we've appreciated all the feedback you've given us about it. KMSU needs to continue building and evolving to reach a diverse audience, and the funds raised during these pledge drives are going to help us in our mission to serve the community.
Please take a moment and consider the place KMSU holds in your life. If you listen to the station regularly, if you've found shows that you know and love, then you're probably a true believer, and you realize that what KMSU offers to you and the community can't be found anywhere else. This kind of programming can only continue with the generous support of our listeners, and we hope you'll give us a call or pledge online to help us out. Any amount makes a huge difference, but we have some great swag available at different pledge levels to hopefully nudge you towards making a contribution.
$25 - 2018 KMSU MUSIC GEEK SOFTBALL T-SHIRT
The last four shirts that we offered for the pledge drive were the most popular we've ever had, so we turned to Kaitlin Baumann, the woman that created those popular designs, to come up with something equally amazing. She didn't let us down! This year's shirt is a jersey for team Music Geek! The front has the Music Geek team logo, and on the back it has a name that you should be identified by: Radio Hero. The true radio heroes are KMSU listeners like you, who believe in this station and what it can do, and your donations and support are your super powers! Pledge this for this shirt and the whole world can see your official radio title screaming across your chest. LOOK OUT, COMMERCIAL RADIO! THIS SHIRT HAS CLAWS!
Kaitlin dun good. The team jersey has purple 3/4 length sleeves and a purple ring collar. All the cool kids will be wearing the new shirt, so obviously that means you! Available in S to 2XL. Wanna see more of Kaitlin's work? Sure you do! Visit katbaumann.com!
$50 - KMSU HAT
For only $50 you can wear your KMSU pride dramatically on your noggin! This hat features the KMSU logo across the front, and comes in Small/Medium and Large/Extra Large. It's a nice classy grey, so it goes with casual togs or with that tux/gown you're gonna be wearing to the opera. Fits on even the biggest head!
$60 - LIVE AT THE WORLD CAFE VOLUME 42
KMSU is one of the rare spots on the dial to carry World Cafe, and this compilation collects some of the recent amazing in-studio performances from both old and new musical favorites! This is the set to get. Features performances from Ryan Adams, The New Pornographers, Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, Mac DeMarco and more!
$100 - TOWNES VAN ZANDT: TEXAS TROUBADOUR
Townes Van Zandt is one of those musicians that you always hear people praise, but you might not have come across his work before. Well, you might have heard another well known musician cover his work, but you might not have heard Townes' original. He's regularly hailed as one of the greatest country songwriters of all time, but somehow wholesale success eluded him during his lifetime. Still, when Austin City Limits organized a memorial show after Townes died, he was lauded by the heavy hitters he influenced: Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Nancy Griffith, Rodney Crowell, and Jack Clement. Not too shabby.
When you pledge $100 to KMSU during the 2018 Spring Pledge Drive you can get 'Townes Van Zandt: Texas Troubadour'. Four CDs featuring his first 7 albums, plus unreleased and live tracks. 86 of the most important and influential songwriting in the realm of Americana. If you're gonna go, go all in, and that's what you'll be doing with this collection. PLUS, you'll be supporting your favorite independent radio station!
Steve Guse, host of Embrace The Sound on KMSU, is a huge Townes Van Zandt fan, so we asked him what he had to say about TVZ and the Texas Troubadour collection:
Townes Van Zandt is long revered as one of the greatest songwriters you've never heard of. Born in Texas in 1944, he began his songwriting journey when he teamed up with Mickey Newbury in 1968, who introduced him to Cowboy Jack Clement. Over the next five years he would release six albums, and pen some of the greatest country/folk songs that survive the test of time still today, including "To Live Is To Fly", "Be Here To Love Me", "Waitin' Around To Die" and "Pancho and Lefty". His Music Lives on today through friends like Steve Earle & Emmylou Harris, and contemporaries Shakey Graves and Gillian Welch. This set is a fantastic introduction into his studio catalog, and a much needed addition to any music geek's collection.
"Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world, and I'll stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that!" - Steve Earle
$100 - KMSU DAY SPONSORSHIP
You can sponsor an entire day of radio on KMSU with this premium. Commemorate a birthday or anniversary, surprise the music geek in your life, treat the new graduate, or celebrate the music of your favorite musician! These are just a few ways that you can use a KMSU Day Sponsorship. A personalized message will also be read throughout the day so the whole world knows that you are a super cool person that supports independent radio!
