Sept. 24-Oct. 15: 'Project Passion' Design Exhibition

Mankato, Minn. – Project Passion, an annual juried exhibition celebrating the self-initiated work of graphic designers and illustrators, is on display in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Conkling Gallery (located in Nelson Hall 139) through Oct. 15.

The exhibit, which opened Monday, Sept. 24, is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday as coverage permits. Please call 507-389-6412 to ensure the gallery is open.

Danielle Evans, a visual punner and food typographer based in Columbus, Ohio, will present a lecture Monday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium, with a gallery reception to follow. Evans will be in residency Oct. 1-2 in the Nelson Hall Graphics Studios at Minnesota State Mankato.

Project Passion is a collaborative effort of Minnesota State Mankato design faculty members along with AIGA Minnesota. The exhibition is made possible through the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment Program.

According to Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Art, this fourth show asks, “What moves you?”

Designers and illustrators from around the United States and beyond are included in the exhibition. Jurors include Evans, Christine Herrin, a designer, letterer and entrepreneur based in San Francisco, and Brent Stickels, a designer, writer and brand strategist based in Minneapolis.
