SBS 2018 Homecoming Parade Float

´╗┐Matt Loayza, Interim Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences announced that the College was well represented in the 2018 Homecoming Parade, which was held in downtown Mankato for the first time since 1970. Thank you to all of the students, faculty, and staff that marched in the parade. The 1970s themed delegation featured marchers in “Mankato State University” t-shirts and other 1970s attire (fitting the “Stompin Through the Decades since 1977” theme), two vintage automobiles, a truck, and a float featuring Godzilla rampaging through New York City.

Homecoming Parade Chair, Jessica McLaughlin (Sociology and Corrections) and our unofficial co-chair, Tyler Vaughan (Sociology and Corrections) created a 9 foot tall Godzilla with moving legs and tail that truly equaled the efforts of the Toho Studios special effects team that created the legendary Godzilla films of the 1970s. Thanks to the Corrections Club and Social Work Club for helping create the cityscape and the Empire State Building! Special thanks to Barbara Carson (Sociology and Corrections), Dennis Waskul, (Sociology and Corrections), and Christine Black-Hughes (Social Work) for contributing both their vehicles and their excellent driving skills.
