November 7-8: Good Thunder: Danez Smith


Please announce to your classes that poet Danez Smith will be here for the Good Thunder Reading Series this week.  A Black, queer, poz writer, teacher, and performer from Minneapolis, Smith is the author of Don’t Call Us Dead (Graywolf, 2017), which was a finalist for the National Book Award and the winner of the United Kingdom’s prestigious Forward Poetry Prize.  Smith’s first book, [insert] boy (YesYes Books, 2014), won the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry.  Smith is the recipient of fellowships from the Poetry Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Wednesday, November 7 (this is different from the usual schedule!)

Thursday, November 8

  • Writing Workshop 10-11 am   Amy Frentz Gallery, Twin River Council for the Arts (523 S. 2nd St., Mankato)
