Student dies in residence hall

A Minnesota State University, Mankato student was found deceased in a dormitory room in Crawford Hall Sunday, March 5. The Mankato Department of Public Safety said no foul play is suspected, and the department is conducting an investigation. President Richard Davenport said the entire campus community is profoundly saddened by the death, and he extended condolences to the student’s family, friends and acquaintances on behalf of the students, faculty, staff and administrators of the University.

A Minnesota State University, Mankato student was found deceased in a dormitory room in Crawford Hall Sunday, March 5. The Mankato Department of Public Safety said no foul play is suspected, and the department is conducting an investigation.

Police identified the student as Eric Suurmeyer, age 19. The cause of death is unknown. An investigation is continuing by the Mankato Department of Public Safety and the ISJ Medical Examiner's Office.

Counselors were available Sunday and are providing counseling for students.
