Minnesota State University, Mankato sophomore Katharine Moeller will be a contestant on the "College Week" edition of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" Tuesday, May 9, and Wednesday, May 10.
Moeller is one of seven college students who will take to the hot seat May 8-12, trying to win $1 million. Locally the program airs on Minneapolis NBC affiliate KARE-11 Monday through Friday at 4 p.m.
Moeller and other students taped episodes of "College Week" on Jan. 12, 2006, at the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - PLAY IT!" attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios, Walt Disney World Resort, Florida. Moeller and other participating students were treated to an "early spring break" with an all-expense paid trip to Florida and access to the various theme parks.
Contestants for the nationally syndicated show were chosen from across the country. The contestants, the show's producers and employees of the production company are prohibited from revealing the results of each episode until it airs.
"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" is in its fourth season in national syndication and is hosted by Meredith Vieira, who won a Daytime Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Game Show Host. Vieira also is a critically acclaimed broadcaster and moderator of ABC Daytime's "The View."

All About Acting: Katharine is getting her B.F.A. in Musical Theater at Minnesota State University, Mankato. After graduation she wants to move to a big city and audition for everything she can! Her dream job …. to sing on Broadway!
Already a "Starving Actor": Katharine has classes all day and spends her nights rehearsing for any of the 18 shows that the theater department puts on each year. She has no time for a job, has no car, and her parents supplement her income. She said that some "Millionaire" money will bring her some financial freedom.
No Such Thing as Too Prepared: Katharine's mom, a high school English teacher, created a 'Millionaire Binder' filled with trivia and other materials that she uses in her classroom to help Katharine study for the hot seat. The binder is 5 inches thick, color coded with tabs and has an index! It includes lists on everything from Kings and Queens to Presidents, World Records, phobias, literary terms, root words and more!
A Promise is a Promise: A few years ago, Katharine wrote and signed a 'contract' with her high school algebra teacher, Mr. Mertz, promising that when she became rich and famous, she would buy him a great gift. Depending on how she does in the hot seat, Mr. Mertz might be getting a very nice gift!
What Would She Do With $1 Million?: If Katharine wins big on "Millionaire," she said she would buy a car, help pay for her tuition, travel and buy a gift with her high school Algebra teacher.
