The Minnesota State University student who appeared on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" walked away from the show with enough loot to buy as many late-night pizzas as her college career will allow.
Katharine Moeller, a sophomore, appeared on the show's "College Week" episodes that aired Tuesday and Wednesday and won $25,000. She started in the hot seat Tuesday and made it to the $8,000 question.
She continued as a holdover contestant to Wednesday's show and worked her way up to $25,000. She is biggest winner so far on "College Week."
Moeller is originally from New Ulm and is the daughter of Ann and Bill Moeller. She is a 2004 graduate of New Ulm Cathedral High School.
While on the show, she used her "Ask The Audience" lifeline on the $16,000 question, which was: "In 1998, Intel replaced Westinghouse as sponsor of a famous high school competition in what field? A) music, B) science, C) creative writing, D) geography."
Both the studio audience and the AOL Instant Messenger audience voted for "B." Moeller took the advice and got the question right.
She used both her "50-50" and "Phone-A-Friend" lifeline on the $25,000 question, which was: "In 'Lazy Sunday,' a 2005 'Saturday Night Live' video spoof that became an Internet sensation, two rapping pals go to what movie?
A) "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," B) "The Family Stone," C) "Brokeback Mountain," D) "King Kong." After using both lifelines, she came up with the correct answer: "A."
After correctly answering the $25,000 question, she was given a fourth lifeline called "Switch The Question." She used that lifeline on the $50,000 question, which was: "On the TV series 'My Name is Earl,' Earl learns about the concept of karma from what TV personality?
A) Judge Judy, B) Geraldo Rivera, C) Jimmy Kimmel, D) Carson Daly." Moeller guessed "A," and was incorrect.
It was "D."
