Xcel Energy has donated $5,000 to Minnesota State University, Mankato for scholarships in its College of Science, Engineering & Technology.

The donation was presented June 29 by Xcel Community and Government Relations Manager Dave Pearson. Over the years, Xcel has contributed more than $111,308 to Minnesota State Mankato.

Pearson presented Minnesota State Mankato Vice President for Advancement David Williams and CSET Dean John Frey with a check supporting the scholarship program. Frey said the University and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology sincerely appreciates Xcel's gift and continued support.

"The curriculum for engineering students is challenging," Frey said. "Xcel's gift means that our students can spend more time studying, rather than having to work to earn money for tuition. We value this gift highly, as we do our long partnership with Xcel."

"It's great to continue our partnership in higher education, especially with Minnesota State Mankato," Pearson added. "The University is the greatest resource in Mankato."
