Minnesota State Mankato first-year student Joey Johnson of Alexandria leads the voting for the new TV reality show "Racin' for a Livin'."
As of July 22, Johnson ranked first among 21 candidates. If he is among the top five when voting ends Aug. 15, he'll go to North Carolina to compete to race in NASCAR Busch Series. People can vote for Johnson at www.racinforalivin.com in the "Wildcards" group.
Johnson, a prospective automotive engineering student, has competed on race tracks around the Midwest. He drives a car similar to NASCAR stock cars, reaching speeds of 100 mph on straightaways.
