Hearing first-person accounts of women in successful leadership roles is the impetus behind a podcast created at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The directors of two Minnesota State Mankato organizations have created a podcast featuring interviews with successful, inspirational women in business, industry and other sectors from around the country. Project LeaderCast is a Web site (www.mnsu.edu/leadercast) created by Dierdre Rosenfeld, Director of the Women's Center, and Kelly Meier, Director of Student Leadership Development & Service-Learning. The two women conducted all of the interviews on the site.

Among the women interviewed are Karen Borchert, Director of the national Campus Kitchens Project; Barbara Jo Davis, owner and president of Ken Davis products; Catherine Reid Day, executive director of Minnesota Campus Compact; Yolanda King, founder and CEO of Higher Ground Productions and daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King; Monica Meyer, public policy director of OutFront Minnesota; Kathy Najimy, comedienne and film actress; and Bernice Sandler, senior scholar at the Women's Research and Education Institute in Washington D.C. (dubbed "godmother of Title IX" by the New York Times).

"These are great stories from inspirational women, and this technology allows a quick and easy way to access them," said Meier.

"It's amazing how similar yet different our stories are," Rosenfeld said. "We feel as if we've unearthed a great resource to inspire our students as they learn, develop and grow."
