The Health-Education Industry Partnership at Minnesota State Mankato has received a $15,000 grant from Delta Dental that will allow the University to establish a specialty track for Community Health Workers in oral health.

The grant covers three distinct areas: training of newly graduated community health workers in oral health; development of an educational pathway for diverse students in the field; and creating awareness of oral health care throughout the state. The grant's time frame runs through July 30, 2007.

A program under Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and the College of Allied Health and Nursing in Mankato, HEIP is collaboration among MnSCU, the health-care industry, professional and trade associations and state agencies to address critical healthcare workforce issues.

Delta Dental Plans Association is America's largest, most experienced dental benefits system. Made up of independent, affiliated dental service corporations, Delta Dental is a not-for-profit organization with some for-profit affiliates.
