The Speech Team and students enrolled in Basic Speech 100 donated more than 1,100 items - totaling 1,360 pounds - to Mankato's Echo Food Shelf as the result of a finals week food drive.

Speech Team members collected food provided by speech students during final exam periods last week. The speech team members organized and packed the food and delivered it to the Echo Food Shelf. The team's successful food shelf drive was the third in as many semesters.

Leah White, director of Forensics, and Kristen Treinen, director of the Basic Course, said they hope the partnership between the speech team and the speech class students continues at the end of each semester.

"The drive encourages Minnesota State Mankato students to see how they can connect to the greater Mankato Community," White said.
