The HickoryTech Foundation announced it is donating $23,000 to fund Presidential Scholarships at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
“HickoryTech’s contribution will continue support to our Presidential Scholars, our highest achieving students,” said Richard Davenport, president of Minnesota State Mankato. “Having scholarships available for these future leaders makes a real difference in their ability to attend Minnesota State Mankato, and helps attract the best and brightest to Mankato. We thank HickoryTech for this generous support as well as their ongoing theatre sponsorship. What a wonderful record of commitment.”
“The HickoryTech Foundation is pleased to support Minnesota State University, Mankato’s presidential scholarship program,” said R. Wynn Kearney Jr., HickoryTech Foundation chairman. “Education has been a long-time priority for our foundation. By providing scholarships for students today we are investing in our communities’ future.”
“Our partnership with Minnesota State University, Mankato is very important to HickoryTech as we directly benefit from the university in so many ways,” said John Finke, president and chief executive officer of HickoryTech. “Over 75 of our employees are either alumni or current students at the university.”
In addition to HickoryTech Foundation’s presidential scholarship support, the foundation and corporation also provided $10,000 to the Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre & Dance Department to sponsor the fall performance "Cats." This is the 14th consecutive year that HickoryTech has sponsored a theatre performance.
HickoryTech presented the check to President Richard Davenport on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
