The public is invited to view the total lunar eclipse on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 20, from Andreas Observatory.
The eclipse will reach totality at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, and the observatory will be open from 8-10 p.m. In addition to viewing the eclipse from the observatory, participants will be able to see views of Saturn, which on Wednesday night will be situated just east of the moon.
Those who can't come to the observatory to see the eclipse but who still want to view it can do so from home by watching the full moon rise in the east.
Andreas Observatory is on the south edge of campus. Visitors should park their cars at the south end of the Gage Towers parking lot and walk on the road south to Andreas Observatory. Assistants will be at the gate to the road to help. A downloadable map to the observatory is at http://cset.mnsu.edu/pa/about/andreas.html.
In case of inclement weather (clouds, snow or extreme cold), the event will be cancelled. Those who want more information should call 389-5912 on the day of the event or Andreas Observatory at 389-2691 after 7 p.m.
