Plans are underway for a new auto emissions laboratory at Minnesota State Mankato.

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association and Minnesota Corn and Research Promotion Council approved a $250,000 grant last month.

Automotive and Engineering Professor Dr. Bruce Jones says the grant allows them to continue their research on alternative based energies."What we'll be able to do with this testing or this project is to look at things such as evaporative emissions of vehicles, using different blends of alternative fuels including ethanol."

The University hopes construction will begin this summer.
