An already-popular organization for seniors — wait, make that lifelong learners — hopes a name change and some marketing savvy will help it reach an even bigger slice of its potential audience.
MSU for Seniors, which offers low-key, no-test courses for anyone 55 and older, has changed its name to Mankato Area Lifelong Learners.
The group hopes the new name will better reflect what it does and help eliminate some of the confusion and stereotypes that have plagued it since its inception more than a decade ago.
"We hope to get away from this idea that, when you get to be 65, you sit around and watch the traffic go by," said Joe Hogan, president of Mankato Area Lifelong Learners.
