Timberwolves to hold camp in Mankato Sept. 30- Oct. 4

Minnesota Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale today announced the team will open its 2008 Training Camp on Tuesday, Sept. 30 on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The 2008 Timberwolves Training Camp will include daily practices from Tuesday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 3, at Bresnan Arena in the Taylor Center on the Minnesota State campus. The Timberwolves will wrap up the 2008 Training Camp on Saturday, Oct. 4, with a scrimmage at Bresnan Arena beginning at 7 p.m.

The scrimmage is free and open to the public; however, a ticket is required for admission. Tickets will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 22 at the U.S. Bank locations at 204 S. 2nd St. and 312 Raintree Road in Mankato (M-F 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.). There is a limit of four tickets per person.

The Wolves Training Camp schedule will include two sessions (10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m.) on Tuesday (Sept. 30), Wednesday (Oct. 1), Thursday (Oct. 2) and Friday (Oct. 3). There will be a single morning practice on Saturday (Oct. 7) prior to that evening's open scrimmage.

All practices will take place at Bresnan Arena, with the exception of the Friday evening practice, which will be held at Bethany College. All Timberwolves practices are closed to the public. The final 30 minutes of each practice session is open to the media. The entire training camp schedule is listed below.

The Timberwolves 2008 training camp at Mankato State University will be marked by a number of community events and appearances by Wolves players and staff. Highlights include a Timberwolves player visit to Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital on Oct. 1, a Timberwolves managerial staff outing to Kids Against Hunger to package food for needy families on Oct. 3, and an autograph signing at the River Hills Mall on Oct. 4.

A schedule of Timberwolves practices and appearances:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 30: 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m., Bresnan Arena
  • Wednesday, Oct. 1: 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m., Bresnan Arena
  • Thursday, Oct. 2: 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m., Bresnan Arena
  • Friday, Oct. 3: 10 a.m. to noon, Bresnan Arena; 6-8 p.m., Bethany College
  • Saturday, Oct. 4: 10 a.m. to noon, Bresnan Arena 

Timberwolves players and management also will sign autographs, pose for photos and appear at a number of charity events in Mankato.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Rashad McCants and Ryan Gomes will read to a classroom of students and make a donation of 1,000 books to the school.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1,  from 1-2 p.m. Kevin Love and Randy Foye will visit patients at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, sign autographs and give away tickets to the team's open scrimmage on Oct. 4.

On Thursday, Oct. 2,  Assistant General Manager Rob Babcock and Corey Brewer will host a basketball clinic for approximately 100 students from 1-2 p.m. at East Junior High School.

On Friday, Oct. 3, from 8-10 a.m. the Timberwolves managerial staff will package meals for families in need in the Mankato community and across the state during Staff Volunteer Day for Kids Against Hunger.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, Timberwolves players, including Sebastian Telfair, will sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.from 1-2 p.m. at River Hills Mall.
