Jazz fusion quartet Garaj Mahal will perform Sunday.

The jazz fusion quartet Garaj Mahal will perform Sunday, Oct. 26, in a Performance Series event sponsored by the Nadine B. Andreas Artists in Residence program.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Garaj Mahal musicians will lead master class sessions for Department of Music students and other interested community members Sunday from 3-5 p.m.

Garaj Mahal has performed or recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, John McLaughlin, Sting, Cassandra Wilson, Dave Holland, Bela Fleck, Chick Corea and Trey Anastasio. Sunday’s performance will include music from the quartet’s 2007 CD release, “Blueberry Cave,” selected a winner in the 2007 Independent Music Awards.

The quartet features guitar and sitar virtuoso Fareed Haque, world-renowned bass master and educator Kai Eckhardt, gospel-inspired funky jazz keyboardist Eric Levy, and consistently in-the-pocket drummer Sean Rickman. The Garaj Mahal musicians represent a century of musical experience, and their performances are infused with a wide spectrum of musical expression.

General admission to the Sunday evening concert is $15; tickets for K-12 students are $12; and tickets for students with a valid MavCard are $9. Those who wish to purchase tickets may do so online at www.mnsu.edu/music/.
