Several journalists in southeastern Minnesota won awards at the Minnesota Newspaper Association awards last week.
In the college category, Raymond Starin of Oronoco, a photographer at Minnesota State University in Mankato, won first place for feature photography, first place for photo story and first place for best photographer's portfolio. Starin also won second place for portrait and personality photo.
Starin graduated from Rochester Century High School in 2003.
The Houston County News won second place in best classified ad section among weeklies with a circulation of up to 2,500.
Anne Jacobson of the Red Wing Republican Eagle won second place for the Herman Roe Editorial Writing Award.
