Forum on global perspectives to celebrate Women’s History Month

The Department of History will host a forum, “Global Perspectives on Women’s and Gender History,” Tuesday, March 24, at 4 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Room 201 to celebrate Women’s History Month.

The Minnesota State University, Mankato, Department of History will host a forum, “Global Perspectives on Women’s and Gender History,” Tuesday, March 24, at 4 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Room 201 to celebrate Women’s History Month.

The forum is free and open to all students, faculty, staff and the public. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.

Minnesota State Mankato women's studies professor Susan Freeman will chair the presentation.

Three Minnesota State Mankato history professors will make the following presentations:

  • Christopher R. Corley, “The Ties that Bind: Gender, Extended Families, and Guardianship in Preindustrial France”
  • Lori Ann Lahlum, “‘Came to Mpls. From the wild west yesterday’: Mina Westbye, New (Norwegian Immigrant) Womanhood, and the Homestead Frontier”
  • Agnes A. Odinga, “‘I just know when the baby is alright’: Midwives and Midwifery in Colonial Kenya”
