Garrison Hale, city administrator of Little Falls, Minn., will receive the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Fitterer Service Award Friday, April 24.
Hale, of Little Falls, is one of 12 alumni who have been named 2009 award winners. He will be honored at an April 24 dinner and ceremony hosted by the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association.
The Fitterer Service Award goes to graduates whose efforts have preserved, promoted and supported Minnesota State Mankato.
Hale came to then-Mankato State College after finishing a tour in Vietnam as an Army Special Forces Green Beret. In 1971 he earned a business administration degree, took graduate-level management courses, and worked for Ford Motor Co. and then for the Bloomington public schools as an accountant.
Since then he has served as an administrative leader for several cities – most recently Little Falls – and as a consultant for counties and communities throughout Minnesota.
He has served on the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association board, is a member of the Foundation Board, and is a lifetime supporting member of the Alumni Association. He is a frequent university guest lecturer, is a judging coordinator for the South Central/Southwest Minnesota Regional Science and Engineering Fair, and each summer sponsors a Highland Summer Theatre production.
Hale also serves on Little Falls’ Great River Arts Association board and is active in the Little Falls Lions.
