MANKATO — When it began, Betty Young and Michelle Oman worked on the youth sports camp together, two like minds working hard to do something that makes a difference for the area’s youth.
They came up with Share the Dream Sports Camp, and they had plans to make it an annual event.
Young’s death in February came as a surprise to the university community.
But Oman knew that the sports camp Young helped launch needed to continue.
“It was a passion of hers and she was very involved in kids’ lives,” said Oman, who is running the show solo this year with the help of a handful of volunteers. “And she would have wanted to see it continue.”
The camp features basketball, soccer, football and track and field for K- 12 students and takes place June 27 at Myers Field House.
