Minnesota State Mankato faculty member Stewart Ross has been named a Kiwanis International trustee, the first Minnesotan in 12 years to be appointed to the group’s highest governing body.
Ross, who heads Minnesota State Mankato's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, will spend the next three years helping fellow Kiwanians around the world.
He was elected during the recent Kiwanis International convention in Nashville, Tenn. as one of 15 Kiwanis International Board of Trustees members worldwide. The organization, with more than 600,000 members, has 16,000 clubs in 70 countries.
Ross has taught at Minnesota State Mankato for 33 years. He’s spent 21 of those years as director of bands. More recently, however, he’s focused his energy at the highly regarded Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, which has earned a reputation among faculty as a place that helps instructors become better teachers.
