Minnesota State University, Mankato is ranked among the top quartile of the nation’s four-year public and private colleges and universities in the most recent Forbes magazine "America's Best Colleges" list.
Minnesota State Mankato is one of four Minnesota public universities on the list – and is the highest-ranking Minnesota State Colleges & Universities institution.
The list, compiled by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, ranks 600 undergraduate institutions that offer high-quality education, significant student experiences opportunities for student achievement.
The rankings are led by the U.S. Military Academy, and include other renowned schools such as Amherst, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Boston College, Dartmouth, Duke and Cornell.
“A good college is one that meets student needs,” the Forbes Web site says. “While some college rankings are based partly on school reputation as evaluated by college administrators and on the amount of money spent, we focus on things which directly concern incoming students: Will my courses be interesting and rewarding? Will I get a good job after I graduate? Is it likely I will graduate in four years? Will I incur a ton of debt getting my degree?”
Minnesota State Mankato, with an average annual cost of $15,155, is one of the best values on the list, and is the most affordable of all Minnesota colleges listed.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive, doctoral university with 14,700 students and two satellite sites, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, which comprises 32 institutions across the state.
