Interfaith activist to discuss religious pluralism Oct. 13

Andreas Public Scholar Hind Makki will present “Interfaith Leadership in a Time of Crisis: Promoting Peace through Religious Pluralism” at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Makki’s talk will be at 7:30 p.m. in Trafton Science Center C121. It is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public.

The discussion will cover global trends related to pluralism, religious conflicts and cooperation around the world. Makki will share her story as an interfaith activist and explain what pluralism is and how to achieve it. She will also discuss how young people can promote peace through pluralism.

Makki is an outreach and education associate for the Interfaith Youth Core, a Chicago-based non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of young people to promote peace through interfaith leadership and community service.

The communication studies department, which is sponsoring Makki’s presentation, also will sponsor an Interfaith Community Service Day in November.
