An afternoon of Beethoven music will be presented by Minnesota State Mankato music faculty member and pianist David Viscoli on Sunday, Oct. 11.
The performance, sponsored by the Minnesota State Mankato Department of Music, will be at 3 p.m. in Halling Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. General admission is $9; tickets for K-12 students are $6; and tickets for students with a valid MavCard are $6.
Viscoli will present an all-Beethoven program, featuring “Sonata in g minor, Op. 49, No. 1”; “Sonata in G major, Op. 49, No. 2”; and “Sonata in B-flat major, Op. 106” (“Hammerklavier”). The concert is made possible in part by a Summer Research Dissemination Grant from Minnesota State Mankato.
Viscoli has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Canada, Europe, Central America and Asia. Earlier this year he performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama in the National Theatre, Panama City. He also has been a guest artist recitalist at the Japanese Embassy and the National University of Arts in Taiwan, and Chung-Ang University in Korea.
He has performed at major universities, music academies and festivals across the continent; has been a guest master class instructor nationally and internationally; is a frequent competition adjudicator; and has been an examiner for the International Piano Performance Examinations in Taiwan. He records on the Eroica label.
