Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band to present Thanksgiving concert Nov. 24

Minnesota State Mankato’s Concert Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present a Thanksgiving Week evening of music Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The performance, sponsored by the Department of Music, will be at 7:30 p.m. in Halling Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. The evening will feature works by Dmitri Kabalevsky, Anatoli Liadov, Charles Rochester Young, John Zdechlik, Shelly Hanson, Norman Dello Joio, David R. Gillingham, Alfred Reed and Leroy Anderson.

General admission is $9; tickets for K-12 students and Minnesota State Mankato students with a valid MavCard are $6.

The groups are directed by Amy K. Roisum Foley and Sarita Magno. The Concert Wind Ensemble is a select instrumental group of approximately 45 wind and percussion players. It offers students an opportunity to read and perform the finest contemporary wind ensemble and traditional band literature. The Symphonic Band offers community members and non-music majors a quality ensemble experience.
