Becky Barkmeier, assistant director of human resources at South Dakota State University, Brookings, will be the new director of human resources at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Barkmeier was appointed last week by Minnesota State Mankato President Richard Davenport. She will begin her duties on Monday, Jan. 25.
She will oversee all functional areas within the Human Resources Office, including classification, compensation, recruitment/selection, performance management, benefits administration, worker’s compensation and professional development.
“Ms. Barkmeier brings extensive experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to this role,” Davenport said. “She will join an excellent and committed staff of professionals in the Human Resources Office.”
In addition to her post at SDSU, Barkmeier has been director of human resources at Dakota Wesleyan University (Mitchell, S.D.), and has held other human resource leadership positions in business and industry. She earned bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion.
A national search began last year after then-Minnesota State Mankato human resources director Loretta Lamb was named vice chancellor for human resources at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. Since then DeeAnn Snaza has been the university’s interim human resources director.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive, doctoral university with 14,950 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, which comprises 32 institutions across the state.
