A kite exhibition will welcome guests to the 2010 Mankato Area International Festival, hosted by Minnesota State Mankato’s Kearney International Center and Mankato Public Schools, at Mankato East High School Sunday, April 11.

The 39th annual festival, one of the largest multicultural events in Minnesota, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public.

In addition to the new kite display, the festival will feature continuous free entertainment, exhibits and an international flag parade, as well as a “Children’s World” exhibit with free arts and crafts from many different cultures.

student with international flags“One World, One Beat” is the festival theme, intended to “indicate that, at the end of the day, we’re all one,” according to festival director Adesola Adetoba, a Minnesota State Mankato graduate student. “The Festival allows us to come together to continue learning about each other and the places we come from.”

Festival admission and parking are free, and a wide selection of foods and cultural items from around the world will be available for purchase.
