“Mamapalooza,” celebrating the artistic talents of female caregivers, is scheduled at Minnesota State Mankato Sunday, April 25.

The first-time Minnesota State Mankato event, free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public, will be from 1-5 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom featuring music performances, art exhibits, film showings and talks. Special entertainment will be provided for children who attend.

(“Mamapalooza” events have been held elsewhere in Mankato for the last two years.)

The campus event will continue Monday, April 26, when Joy Rose, national founder of Mamapalooza, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Ballroom. Rose’s lecture is free and open to everyone.

Rose, the mother of four, created Mamapalooza in 2002 to empower women, mothers and families. She advocates for women, mothers and families through music with her band Housewives on Prozac, her radio talk show “Don’t Tell Me to Shut Up,” and Mamazina, a literary magazine.
