W. A. Mozart’s comic opera “Cosi fan tutte” will be presented by the Department of Music Friday, April 30, and Sunday, May 2, in Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center.
The opera, sung in English, is produced by music faculty member Kimm Julian and accompanied by the University Chamber Orchestra. Friday’s performance will be at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s at 3 p.m.
An ironic look at the foibles of love, the opera tells the story of two sisters, their fiancés and a bet.
Will the women be faithful? “Of course,” brag the men. “Nay,” says the cynical Don Alfonso. In Mozart’s world of disguises and trickery, the women – and love itself – are put to the test, and Mozart’s genius turns a farce into a scintillating blend of thought-provoking humor.
General admission is $12; tickets for K-12, children and Minnesota State Mankato students with a valid MavCard are $9. Those who wish to purchase tickets online may go to the Music Department's website. Those who want concert information should call the Performance Series office at 507-389-5549. Those with a disability who need a reasonable accommodation may call 507-389-2077 or 711 (MRS/TTY).
