Mark Henry Schuck, head track and cross country coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato, received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Fitterer Service Award from the university last week.

Schuck, of Lake Crystal, Minn., is one of 12 alumni who are 2010 award winners. He was honored at an April 23 dinner and ceremony hosted by the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association.

The Fitterer Service Award goes to graduates whose efforts have preserved, promoted and supported Minnesota State Mankato.

As a Minnesota State Mankato student, he served as assistant basketball coach at Wilson Campus School. He continued to work at Wilson after earning undergraduate and graduate degrees.

An assistant professor of human performance, he is student relations coordinator for the College of Allied Health & Nursing. He also has served as interim director of athletics.

Schuck and his wife Jane share their Lake Crystal home with his brother, Tom, who has Down’s syndrome. Each summer the Schucks open their home to the cross country team for pre-season conditioning.
